Earlier this month Microsoft released the Windows 10 Anniversary Update and immediately after that they also made the Windows 10 Anniversary Update SDK (Build 14393) available to developers.

This updated version of the SDK for Windows 10 not only provided a developer the means to continue building apps for PCs and mobile devices but for the first time it made the Xbox One console accessible to those same Universal Windows Platform (UWP) apps.

Next week Microsoft developers and engineers will host a one day online event, which will be totally free and open to everyone, that will cover this new avenue of exposure for UWP app developers.

The following areas will be covered during the live event:

  • the Anniversary Update SDK and getting started with app development on Xbox One
  • deep dive into developing apps using both XAML and Web technologies
  • guidance for designing and creating impressive TV experiences and
  • submitting your apps via the Dev Center to all UWP devices including the Xbox

After those subjects are covered there will be time for Q & A with the engineers who built all of this. The Q & A will happen via Twitter using the @WindowsDev account and the hashtag #XboxAppDev.

Here is the detailed timeline of the day that has been planned:

  • 09:00 - Kick off
  • 09:35 - Getting started with App Dev on Xbox
  • 10:00 - XAML Apps on Xbox
  • 11:00 - Web Apps on Xbox
  • 12:00 - Designing for Xbox
  • 13:00 - Dev Center and publishing UWP apps
  • 14:00 - Expert panel

Microsoft has an event registration page where you can sign up and you can also come back to watch the event from the same page on the 30th.
